Aim of the subject:
Aim of the course is to learn French language and pronunciation while developing various skills (listening, writing, speaking) and discover Francophone cultures.
Content: Language learning is based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) content (A1 – beginners).
A1 Beginners - This level recognizes basic knowledge. It is the most basic level at which a language is used, called the "discovery" stage. At this stage, the learner can interact in a simple way: he/she can speak about him/herself and his/her immediate environment. Learning outcomes:
Students:
- Can understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases aimed at the satisfaction of needs of a concrete type.
- Can introduce him/herself and others and can ask and answer questions about personal details such as where he/she lives, people he/she knows and things he/she has.
- Can interact in a simple way provided the other person talks slowly and clearly and is prepared to help.
Assessment:
I semester: pass/fail exam.
Student participation in lectures and positive test results are taken into account.
II semester: examination.
Examination requirements: positive test results (minimum grade is 50/100).
Examination mark shall consist of a written test in four parts:
- Listening: Comprehension questionnaires dealing with three or four very short recordings on everyday life (played twice - Maximum duration of recordings: 3 minutes).
Duration: Approximately 20 minutes. Mark on 25 points.
- Reading: Comprehension questionnaires dealing with four or five written documents on everyday life. Duration: 30 minutes. Mark on 25 points.
- Writing: Two parts test: 1. filling in a record, a form
2. writing simple phrases (postcards, messages, stories etc) on everyday topics.
Duration: 30 minutes. Mark on 25 points.
- Speaking: Three part test:
1. guided conversation
2. exchanging information
3. role-play
Duration: (Preparations: 10 minutes) 5 to 10 minutes of speaking test. Mark on 25 points.
Total duration of all tests: approximately 2 hours
* Total mark on 100 points
* Overall pass mark: 50/100
Assessment criteria:
I Semester: pass/fail.
Student participation in lectures and positive test results are taken into account.
II semester:
- Positive test results are taken into account.
"excellent (A)" – 90-100 %, all parts of the examination show excellent knowledge, errors do not occur.
"very good (B)"- 80-90 %, very good knowledge.
"good (C)"- 70-80 %, good knowledge.
"satisfactory (D)"- 60-70% sufficient knowledge
"sufficient (E)"-50-60%, limited knowledge.
"insufficient (0)" – less than 50%, exam is not passed.
