Aim of the subject:
This course allows students to gain knowledge and practical experience related to work within CCI domestically and abroad as well as inside the institution and on the freelance base. It enables students to understand the specificities of the field and practice of cultural management and strengthen their international networking proficiency highlighting the importance of work in multidisciplinary context. During the course, foreign students will also get acquainted with Estonian culture and can practice communicating in Estonian.
Content: The course captures the following themes:
Cultural management in practice - Study visit, getting to know the local culture.
Cultural management in international context - International study visit
Multidisciplinarity and cultural management, working with creativity - project work, cooperation with local creative people (for foreign students partly in Estonian)
Mentoring and being mentored Learning outcomes:
1. The students has gained specific knowledge and experience of working with creative people (musicians, visual artist, dancers, etc)
2. Demonstrates the knowledge of basic concepts of managing and leading creativity in creative industries
3. Explores, creates and applies creative thinking process and tools in providing solutions.
4. Is capable of connecting one's own disciplinary expertise to a wider multi-disciplinary team, network, research group, etc. through participation in inside or outside the institution project, conference, work practice etc.
5. Understands the activities of different cultural organizations, has been acquainted with the environment, structures, objectives and problems of cultural organizations in Estonia and abroad.
6. Is able to create real life contact with current cultural managers and entrepreneurs within the broader network of cultural managers across Europe and beyond.
Assessment:
The subject is assessed as pass/fail.
The module (12 ECTS) can be considered fully completed only if each topic of the module is evaluated positively by the end of the module (3rd semester).
Assessment criteria:
Active participation and the timely presentation of all homework, both individual and group assignments. Exact forms and timelines are announced during the semester.
